Altar Servers

Altar Servers are members of the community who seek to assist the priests at Mass. Altar serving is a quiet but important and dignified part of the service and an easy way to be involved with the Mass. Training is mandatory.

Eligibility requirements to serve

  • 5th grade or older
  • Family registered at St. Thomas the Apostle
  • Fully initiated Catholic

Training Schedule...

  • There are two training sessions per year (fall and Spring). Exact dates will be announced in the bulletin and/or the pulpit.
  • Additional training is scheduled on an as needed basis.


Safe Environment enforcement...

One parent per child or is allowed and encouraged to be in the sacristy with thier child/children. Please note that no adults or children are allowed in the vesting room, it is the clergy’s space and time to prepare for the Mass. All adult STA volunteers are REQUIORED to renew Safe Environment certification yearly. We also ask that there be two adults in the sacristy at all times when children are present.
